We cannot believe it is already May!!! We have a new virtue this month: Perseverance! Please take a moment to talk about what perseverance might look like with your child :) Please note the special events taking place this month on the May Calendar (Link below)

Insects/Bugs
Today we learned how bugs are different. Please ask your child what bugs have? Hint: think about the shape of their heads!

Here are some work samples of the things we think we know about insects and bugs!

Please ask your child what questions they have about bugs and insects. Here are some of the ones we came up with in class.

Why do lady bugs have hard skin?
Why do bugs have triangle heads?
What do insects eat?
Why are lady bugs insects?
Why do we need bugs?
Some insects have front legs, what do they use it for?
What do lady bugs eat?
Are lady bugs strong?
What do bugs eat?
Do some bugs have 6 legs?
How do lady bugs fly with the hard wings?
What do grasshoppers eat?
Why can’t ants fly like butterflies?
Why do honey bees sting?
Do bugs eat honey?
Why are ants important?
How do fireflies light up?
What happens if the owl chokes on a bone in the pellet when it throws it up?

Reminders
- May newsletter went home yesterday. To read the full version please visit http://schools.cbe.ab.ca/b239/publications/newsletters/2013-2014/May%20Newsletter.pdf
- Grade 2 Photobooth club begins next Wednesday
- As stated in the newsletter this month, As of June 1st there will be no hot water available for students lunches. Here is the information from the newsletter.
Starting in June, we will no longer provide hot/boiling water for soups in the lunchroom program at Vista Heights School. Having a hot water kettle causes a safety concern for staff and students. We suggest that you send the soup in a thermos for your child. Remember that if you would like a Brown Bag lunch provided for your child you can call the school and speak with Mrs. McCrae. It is a service offered to all of our students.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to talk to me.

Thanks!
Ms. Toor
