Problem/Solution
Today we read The King and the
Ring on www.cookie.com. We learned that some stories have problems and
solutions. Please ask your child what the problem was in this story, and how
did they fix the problem (solution). Here is the link to view the story.
Email
Students were sent home with instructions to access their email. If students wish, they can practice logging in
and emailing me at sktoor@cbe.ab.ca
Raz Kids
Students will be coming home with a
new Raz Kids password due to a number of students sharing their passwords. We
discussed as a class the importance of keeping passwords a secret. Please
remind your child at home to not share their passwords with anyone as it is
their private information. New passwords are students CBE Student ID numbers.
Please encourage your child to memorize this password as it is how they log
into our school computers as well.
Homework
Please note that we will not be
sending paper and pencil worksheets for homework.
Your child's DAILY homework is to
read a book.
If they choose to read one from the
library, or their home collection, please take a few moments to follow along
with them and ask a few questions about what they have just read.
Another option is to ensure your
child has access to Raz-Kids on a daily basis. Raz-Kids is an effective way for
students to be exposed to interesting books, fiction and nonfiction. They
are asked a variety of questions in each book's quiz and they can work on their
fluency rates by reading aloud in the "recording" section. One
book per day is all that is required.
Weather
According to the WeatherNetwork.com, Calgary has
been issued a snow fall warning. Over the weekend, Calgary is expected to
received 10-15 cm of snow. On the weekend go outside and measure how deep
the snow is in your yard! You can use a rule, a stick, or even your shoe! Let
me know on Monday how deep the snow was in your yard.
