Thursday, April 3, 2014

Today we had the amazing opportunity to work with Diane Peacock and Diane Lee. They brought in some Inuit artifacts which included some hunting tools, toys, and clothing pieces that are traditionally used and worn by the Inuit people of Canada. Below are some of the artifacts we had the opportunity to see. Please ask your child: What are each of the artifacts and what their importance is to Inuit life in Canada.

Back in the classroom, we discussed the Inukshuk. We read The Lonely Inukshuk, a story about a Inukshuk trying to understand its purpose. The Inuksuk may be used for navigation, as a point of reference, a marker for travel routes, fishing places, camps, and hunting grounds. Please ask your child the following questions:

2 Stars and a Wish
During conferences before the break, students were asked to write about 2 stars and a wish. If you have not done so already, please take a few moments today to goal set with your child by clicking this link: 2 Stars and a wish form.

Thank you so much for taking an active role in your child's learning! I appreciate all of your support!
